THE GREGOLETTO FAMILY ALBUM RECOUNTS THE STORIES OF OUR WORK, THE WINES WE MAKE AND OUR LONG VITICULTURAL HISTORY.

1600. Extract of a legal agreement between the Gregoletto family and the Abbey of Follina. Page 46 certifies the first contract signed by one of our ancestors and the Abbey, dated 9th of December 1600, for the cultivation of a vineyard and plots that until this day are still cultivated by us. From this document it can also be gleaned that at least from 1457 the vineyards on the hillside of Colzanin, where until today the Gregoletto estate is located, produced white grapes and of superior quality than those produced on the valley floor.

1700. The image of the tree and the vine does not only stand for the cadastral stamp certifying the extent, value and ownership of the land and its ancient agricultural activity, but also the deep bond our family has with this soil, which, after more than 400 years we still tend every day.

One of the clauses of the livello, or contract, that our ancestors were obliged to honour while leasing the soils, stipulated the Bene e Fedelmente - 'to do so in a diligent and faithful manner'. It has remained our goal ever since.

A quote from page 446: '...the history began a long time ago because of the efforts of Carpenè and thus the Società Vini Superiore was founded in Valdobbiadene, but also other producers drew national and international attention after the second world war and .....not highlight the value, passion, talent of each and everyone, in the region of Valdobbiadene/Pieve di Soligo. And therefore one can rightfully enshrine the role the following producers have played in the viticultural and oenological history of this region, such as Bisol, Ruggeri, Bortolomiol, Franco, Bortolin, Gregoletto, Mionetto. Trevisiol, Bortolotti, La Cardinal, La Bepin de Eto and others.'
Pag. 464: 'an obligatory footnote must be dedicated to Incrocio Manzoni 6.0.13, developed in the 1930s by professor Luigi Manzoni by crossing Pinot Bianco and Rhine Riesling, which has finally proved to be a superb grape variety after having been overlooked for years because of its low productivity. However, a few producers, among which Luigi Gregoletto from Premaor ...never gave up on this variety and continued to cultivate and vinify it, treating it with passion, respect and awe.'

Luigi Gregoletto's memory of this period: ''My first encounter with Incrocio Manzoni Bianco was at the beginning of the 1970s. One day Dr Alvise Orlando offered me a batch of high quality white grapes, with a high sugar content and excellent aroma. I was immediately interested and I went to see the vineyard in the commune of Castelletto di Follina. I immediately bought the grapes.... and sold them as Riesling del Castelletto.
